Police arrested Richard Bender, 44, of West Palm Beach, at about 8:45 p.m. on New Years Eve. He faces two counts of sexual battery after several people told police that he grabbed the girls, according to a West Palm Beach Police arrest report. The first incident happened in the 100 block of Clematis Street when a girl between the ages of 12 and 18 said she was taking a picture with her grandmother when Bender grabbed her bottom, according to the report. The girl screamed and told Bender to leave but he stayed in the area, police said. A short time later, another girl ---under the age of 12 the report said---- told police a strange man walked up to her and said, "come here." The girl said Bender grabbed her and tried to pull her shorts down but she broke free and ran for help. Bender was arrested after police interviewed a woman who said she witnessed the two incidents. According to police, he later made statements about wanting to molest the girls.
